Last week the walking group travelled by bus to Edinburgh to visit some exhibitions and take a walk in Princes Street Gardens. First stop was the National Portrait Gallery to see the BP Portrait Awards exhibition.
Everyone was impressed with the paintings and each person selected their favourite. Surprisingly, of the many paintings in the exhibition the same picture was chosen by half of the group, a portrait of John Byrne by an artist called Mark Mulholland.
Photography was not permitted in the exhibition but as it was ‘Museum Selfie Day’ there were a few shots made in other parts of the building.
From here the group took a walk to Princes Street Gardens for a picnic lunch and then onward to the National Gallery. Amongst the many exhibits was a room of watercolours by Turner which are displayed once a year during the month of January.
After spending some time here it was time to head back to the bus and travel back to Glasgow.
