Walking Group - Week 2

"Last Wednesday we welcomed a few new walkers to the group and we all set off for a visit to Scotland Street School. Most of the group had never been to this museum before but one of the group, Ian, had attended there as a pupil and was looking forward to rekindling some childhood memories.

Along the way we chatted about how much the area has changed in recent years and how many fine buildings are sadly neglected and allowed to become derelict. It was quite a long walk so were glad when we reached the old school, especially as it had started raining. Unfortunately, one of the staff came to the door and broke the news to us that we couldn't go in as there was a gas leak and they were waiting for someone to come to fix the problem.

We were all a bit disappointed not to get inside and decided we would come back another day. After a walk around the playground some people decided to take the nearby underground to their next destination and the rest of us walked back to town.

As most of us had been keeping our cameras for when we got inside we don't have so many photographs this week but here are some that were taken along the way."
