We are delighted to announce that ‘On the Same Latitude‘, a photographic collaboration between Simon McAuley and Ida Arentoft previously exhibited in our gallery in 2015, will be shown in Photo City for the Copenhagen Photo Festival.
“On the Same Latitude is a show commissioned by Project Ability in Glasgow in 2015 and is an on-going journey consisting of individual photographic documents and correspondences. The discovery that McAuley and Arentoft were on the same latitude in Scotland and Denmark became the point of departure for the collaboration. Separated by the North Sea, a few hundred miles, and a time zone of an hour.
While photographing they’d correspond via email, sending guidelines for pictures, ideas, image examples and notes from travels, all now in a publication. The dialogue shaped the project, which like an expedition journal documents an explorative navigation through places.
Photography creates a mutual language between the two artists and functions as a tool to tell two individual stories that meet by observing things happening simultaneously on specific points in two places, though under the same sky on the same globe.

Simon McAuley (1968) and Ida Arentoft (1984) both studied Fine Art Photography at Glasgow School of Art.”
