‘Myscape – a journey into the autistic architectural landscape’

Tuesday 26th January - Saturday 20th February

Craig Bechtel (US) Declan Byrne (IE) Pum Dunbar (GB) Elaine (GB) Ninni Etelamaki (FI) Sharyar Faramarz (GB) David Greenberg (GB) Miles Howard-Wilkes (AU) Laan Irodjojo (NL) Neville Jermyn (GB) Julian Martin (AU) Cameron Morgan (GB) Chris O’Brien (AU) Robert Reddick (GB) Darryl Spencer (GB) Moira Taylor (GB) Anya Ustaszewski (GB)

17 artists with autism spectrum conditions and Asperger syndrome have been invited to contribute works exploring their relationships with architectural landscapes, real or imaginary. The exhibition features the work of artists from six different countries, all with unique backgrounds, and techniques vary from painting, drawing and sculpture through to sound installation, and site-specific commissions.

The invited artists have approached the topic in divergent ways; some works objectively mirror selected environments, whilst others centre on the exploration of abstract ideas and subjective interpretations of architectural landscapes. The exhibition juxtaposes these different responses, thereby developing unexpected relationships and narratives between the works.

An artist talk will take place where some of the exhibiting artists will be discussing their practice and their work in Myscape. A publication will be launched which documents the exhibition and comprises of critical essays.

First Thursday: Project Ability & Trongate 103, exhibition open late, Thursday 4 February, 5 - 9pm

Reception: Collins Gallery, Thursday 18 February, 6 - 8pm

Artist talk & publication launch: Project Ability Gallery, Friday 19 February, 1 - 4pm

All events are free and open to the public, and a great chance to meet some of the artists involved in Myscape.

The exhibition will be shown in Project Ability’s gallery at Trongate 103 and Collins Gallery at Strathclyde University.
