Double Act: A Creative Conversation
Project Brief
Introduction
Project Ability was established in 1984 and is now one of Scotland 's leading arts organisations supporting people with disabilities to participate in the visual arts. Project Ability is committed to developing and delivering an innovative, inspiring and challenging visual arts workshop and exhibition programme.
“Double-Act: A Creative Conversation” will support visual artists with learning disabilities and mid-career artists to collaborate on making new work for exhibition. The artistic collaboration will aim to explore both the nature and content of creative partnerships. The artists will work together to devise a work programme based on respect, communication and shared learning.
The project partners will work towards an exhibition in Project Ability's Galleries 1 and 2 opening on Thursday 31 January 2008.
Workshop and production facilities are available at Project Ability's base – including print making, digital and new media, ceramics, glass and wood. Other studio spaces/production facilities can be used but there is no additional funding for studio/production costs.
Project Management
Project supervision and support will be led by Project Ability's Artistic Director, Elisabeth Gibson. Elisabeth will work with all the artists individually and through group learning to ensure that equality of opportunity and shared learning is delivered across all areas of the project.
Full attendance is required at the project introductory event, a minimum of three peer support meetings during the project development and the delivery of an interpretation event during the exhibition.
