Paul Duffus graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1984 and went on to achieve a Masters degree in painting and printmaking from the Royal College of Art in London. In this exhibition of new paintings, Paul has used the Scottish landscape as his inspiration. Over the past year, Paul has worked on many drawings and paintings that are a result of his walks in various locations. The works in this series have become more and more abstract and the palette of colours is constantly changing.
“My painting has gone through many changes and transformations. I have painted in many styles, from expressionism, surrealism, cubism, pop art and geometric abstraction. Currently I am painting hard-edged abstract pictures and this has opened up a whole new era for me. At this time I am looking forward to evolving new styles of painting in uncharted waters, which will make my work rejuvenated. I am excited by the painting I am making and would like to thank the Trongate Studios and Project Ability for giving me the courage to flourish.”
