Her paintings are influenced by her interest in myths, nature, history and symbolism. In her painting ‘Eve of the meanings' the objects surrounding the central figure have very specific meanings, with the apple representing the garden of Eden, the diamond superiority, the rose femininity, the source of light the beginning of life, the unborn child motherhood and the water purity.
A recurring subject in many of Julie's paintings is dogs. She has a large collection of soft toy dogs, which she treats like real animals and sees as symbols of protection.
