This block of 5 weekly workshop tutorials will explore the following:
- Exploring Self-Portraiture from past to present. Origins and developments.
- Why Do Artists make Self – Portraits?
- How would you define yourself? How would others identify you? What are your identifying features? What Symbols would you use to represent yourself?
- Discuss ‘alternative’ self Portraits – how you would like people to perceive you. Ego, Celebrity and Icons.
- How to “read “a Portrait, exploring narrative through Identity. Analysis of the face, body and personality, pose, colours, ‘coded’ clothing, symbolism and context.
