Luigi Bertonesi

Luigi Bertonesi's work shows a formal inventiveness with the feel of a stylised colouring book, in which the same figures and characters are mixed and matched in different scenarios from prairie scenes to religious gatherings. Luigi has an internalised artistic ambition, active and original, shown in the sheer number of these extraordinary drawings.

These works, pen-drawn on paper, illustrate incidents not conceivable in a written narrative. His compositions, commonly set in the horizontal format he favours, are rich and colourful depictions of symbols, crowds, families, couples and animals.

Luigi Bertonesi has been attending Project Ability's Aspire programme for over ten years, and had his first Solo Showcase in the Project Ability Gallery in April 2013.
