Cameron Morgan

Cameron Morgan is a multi-talented and prolific artist working with Project Ability as part of our Aspire programme, since 1991.

Cameron Morgan continues to strengthen his reputation as a leading contemporary artist through high-profile exhibitions, commissions, and funding awards. In 2025 Morgan was part of The Meeting of Unveiled Worlds, a group exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. In 2024 he exhibited new work in Kaleidoscopic Realms at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery. In 2023, five of his collaborative screen-prints, made with Charlie Hammond, were acquisitioned by the National Galleries of Scotland. In 2022 he was awarded a commission from the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) for the project We All Have Human Rights. He has also received various funding and grants, including a 2020 Create: Inclusion Grant from Creative Scotland and an Artist Bursary from Unlimited, supporting sustained creative development. Working across painting, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, and live portraiture, his work is widely exhibited.

A significant turning point came in 2016 when Morgan received an Unlimited commission that led to major bodies of work such as TV Classics Part 1 and Put Your Sweet Lips Closer to the Phone. That same year, he was awarded a lifetime fellowship by the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA), a prestigious recognition that elevated his profile within the UK contemporary art scene. During this period, his work was shown across multiple venues and festivals, expanding his reach beyond disability arts into the wider cultural landscape.

Morgan’s early success was shaped by landmark large-scale projects; in 2010 he completed a major mural at the Collins Gallery in Glasgow, marking his first wall-based work and gaining strong public attention. This was followed by Cameron’s Way: Coast to Coast, created for the 2014 Generation festival, which helped establish his distinctive artistic voice.

His artistic career continues to develop, and in 2025 The Art Fund supported Project Ability to make an extensive archive of his work. This project will help secure the future of Morgan’s artistic portfolio and the legacy of his art in Scotland and beyond.
