On Thursday the 27th July the walking group met outside GOMA for a visit to the Banksy Cut and Run exhibition. After a quick bag search and phones being put into locked pouches we were in! And what a treat it was. Featuring a mix of stencils and installations there was so much to see. Stories about the creations and the making of them accompanied the stencils and added context to many pieces, especially some I had not seen before. In the middle of the exhibition is an open space with a variety of installations, it is here your polaroid photograph is taken by one of the very friendly and helpful staff. We had a few group shots taken as well as individual ones, I got mine under a claw machine! There was a livestock truck filled with stuffed animals and you could go inside and operate them like puppets, making them move and squeak with sadness, it was both fun and thought provoking. On the way out you exit via Banksy’s childhood bedroom, before the graffiti wall that we were all eager to make our mark on.
