Project Ability x LUSH

Project Ability × LUSH

Inclusive collaborations bringing artist-led design to global audiences

Since 2022, Project Ability and LUSH have partnered on creative projects that place learning disabled artists and artists with experience of mental ill-health at the heart of commercial design.

Project Ability is a Glasgow-based visual arts charity supporting artists who face barriers to the visual art world. With around 180 participants attending core workshops each year, the organisation creates meaningful connections and opportunities beyond the studio.

LUSH’s commitment to inclusivity and diverse creative voices made them a natural partner. Together, the organisations have developed projects that showcase artists’ work internationally while demonstrating how ethical, artist-led collaboration can thrive in a commercial setting.

Highlighted Projects

Knot Wrap Design – Linda Tulloch & Cameron Morgan

  • 2022: Linda Tulloch’s Hearts and Swirls design was selected for LUSH’s year-round Knot Wrap collection, sold internationally.

“When I paint hearts it’s to show my love for people and to make them feel loved. The world can be a dark place and I like to think that my brightly coloured paintings bring a little bit of brightness.” – Linda Tulloch

  • 2023: Cameron Morgan’s badger design, My Name is Digger, was licensed for LUSH’s Christmas knot wrap collection.

“I enjoy watching nature programmes so I’m always inspired to draw animals. After seeing a really nice picture of a badger I thought it would make a lovely design for a knot wrap.” – Cameron Morgan

Pop-Up and Portrait Drawing, Glasgow Flagship Store
In October 2023, Project Ability hosted a pop-up shop and live portrait drawing session at LUSH’s Glasgow store. Customers experienced the creative process first hand and gained insight into the work of Project Ability, while artists shared their designs with a wide audience.

‘I Can’t Help It, I Like Art’ Exhibition
In November 2023, LUSH hired Project Ability’s gallery space for a one-week exhibition celebrating the Knot Wraps and their talented designers. The collaboration included a free screen-printing workshop for visitors, creating hands-on engagement with the artists’ work.

Halloween Collection – Coco’s Skullywood Design
In 2025, ReConnect artist Coco had her Skullywood design featured in LUSH’s Halloween collection. This playful, bold pop-art inspired pattern wrapped LUSH bath bombs, reaching audiences worldwide.

“We’re thrilled to share this news! Coco’s design is a perfect example of the creativity nurtured in our ReConnect studio, now reaching far and wide.” – Project Ability

LUSH on the Collaboration

“At LUSH we are passionate about art and design, this includes the people who create it. We understand how important it is to have a breadth of design from a variety of voices and from as many backgrounds as possible. We have been working with Project Ability for a couple of years now, and it’s always so inspiring to see the fabulous work created by all of the artists. We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating on the ‘I can’t help it, I like art’ exhibition in November 2023, and getting to showcase the Knot Wrap designs by Cameron Morgan & Linda Tulloch. We understand that it is a real privilege to be able to work in this way and one in which we are so pleased to be able to create opportunities for as a commercial business.
