Tony Murray

Earlier in 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting an exhibition celebrating the life and work of one of our ReConnect artists who sadly passed away last year.

Tony Murray created a spectacular body of work in his life time. His portraits are stunning, his landscapes are awe inspiring and his abstract compositions leave the viewer intrigued and uplifted. His painting style evolved over the years, and settled into a dreamy abstract surrealism. It is evident from this exhibtion that Tony could successfully put his hand to any style of painting.

The exhibition, Star Man: Tony’s life in colour, was curated by close friends and family, to replicate the way Tony had hung all of the paintings in his own flat; floor to ceiling! This salon style meant the entire exhibtion space was covered in his paintings.

Tony’s family and friends initiated this memorial exhibition. It was a stunning effort and it pays testamony to just how much Tony was loved and respected by everyone close to him. With over 100 paintings on show, the exhibition was an absolute delight to take in and experience.

In addition to the gorgeous exhibition his family and friends curated for us at Project Ability, the family have generously donated half of all of the sales’ proceeds to Project Ability. This was a wonderful gesture and the donation we received from the family came to £1490! We want to express our sincere gratitude with a heart felt thank you for this generous donation. The family will be donating the other half of the proceeds to charities that were close to Tony’s heart.

Thank you so much to all of his friends and family who put in so much effort getting the show together for us. And thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the life and art of Tony Murray, Star Man.
