Renowned visual artist Tanya Raabe will be giving workshops to our Connect and Aspire artists on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September.
“My work is based on and is about images of myself and other disabled people in environments which are dominated by a society obsessed with physical beauty and perfection. I work with the notion that my self-identity changes depending on what situation I am in. I can be; a woman, a disabled woman, person, a disabled person, an artist, and a disabled artist. Who decides this and when? It maybe a particular experience that changes the way society sees us. Disability is part of my life’s experiences therefore it is my art form.”
