We are excited to announce that we are part of the Cordially Invited exhibition, hosted by Make Studio in Maryland, USA!
Ian Bruin represents Project Ability with five of his paintings. Bruin is an artist working in Project Ability’s Aspire studios. He was a selected artist for the IASSIADD (The International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities )conference at the SECC in 2020, and since then he has continued to develop his painting practice.
Choosing a variety of subject matter to work from, Bruin’s paintings capture the mundane, but through this capturing the artist creates intriguing images that are a wonder to view. Each piece draws from everyday life—nature, domestic space, walking paths—but enhances it with stylised choices or subtle surrealism that invite deeper contemplation. Bruin has a clever way of combining the everyday with the quietly surreal, transforming ordinary scenes into moments of reflection, wonder, or intrigue.
Check out Bruin’s work on the Cordially Invited website, and have a look at the other talented artists showing work.
Big thanks to Cordially Invited for another brilliant exhibition!
