Free Embroidery Workshops

Project Ability invites you to take part in a free beginner-friendly embroidery workshop inspired by the work of artist James Gladwell.

Running alongside James’ Glasgow International solo exhibition at Project Ability, these relaxed workshops offer a chance to slow down, get creative, and experiment with embroidery surrounded by James’ delicate line drawings and textile works.

Although James will not be leading the workshops themselves, he will be visiting the gallery during the exhibition and creating new drawings live in the space. Participants are warmly encouraged to use these artworks as inspiration for their own embroidered pieces.

Led by Project Ability volunteer Hannah, the sessions are open to complete beginners as well as anyone with an interest in textiles, drawing, or mindful making. All materials are provided, and participants will take home their finished embroidery at the end of the session.
