Our artists have been busy working with three Renfrewshire Schools on a nature inspired project.
Mary Russell, Riverbrae and Corseford Schools have visited the beautiful RSPB Lochwinnoch Reserve and created some wonderful artworks in response to the diverse wildlife found there.
Pupils have been busy exploring painting, printmaking and sculpture inspired by the natural environment.
“The children have been very enthusiastic when trying different mediums, it is great for them to see each stage of their work coming together. They have been enhancing their fine motor skills and their ability to focus on a project. The children are naturally chatty during the process which has been an invaluable boost to their social and language skills. They have also asked some interesting questions! Most of all, they have had fun! Tracy and Jason have such a lovely manner with the children – they look forward to them coming every week!” – Miss Kinsman, Mary Russell School
“I love it!! We have been making beetles. We had lots of different body shapes. We had to make the wings and then the head. We had a grey sheet and you painted on it and printed it onto paper to make the colours of the beetle. Mine was pink and green and some yellow.” – Pupil, Mary Russell School
Keep an eye on our upcoming Young Talent Exhibition in July, featuring work from our young nature lovers.
