On Wednesday the 11th October the walking group visited the Hunterian Art Gallery. We had a look around the main level at the permanent works, taking in a few new things before heading upstairs to the exhibit we had come to see; ‘Unravelling Times’ by the artists Lis Rhodes, Anne-Marie Copestake, Francis McKee and Iman Tajik. It is built around three films by Rhodes, ‘Pictures on Pink Paper’, ‘Dissonance and Disturbance’ and ‘Ambiguous Journeys’. The exhibition focuses on feminist, political and immigration issues. A wall is covered in photos of protest from around the world taken by Francis McKee. Iman Tajik also has a set of photos and video installations titled ‘The Dreamers’. These feature a walk from Glasgow to the Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre and the artist with a flag made from an emergency blanket. A 4th film features in the exhibition, ‘A Love’ by Anne-Marie Copestake, is shot on super 8 and shows people in everyday settings engaging in acts of love, respect and ritual.
The exhibition runs until the 15th of October.
