It’s degree show time and this year one of our volunteers, Neslihan Kucukdemiral, also known as Nes, had her final show in City of Glasgow College so we set out to see what she’s been busy with.
It was a glorious day and after a steep climb to Rottenrow Gardens we stopped off briefly to admire the George Wylie sculpture there and to get our breaths back! We then carried on up to the college where we were met by Nes who introduced us to her exhibition. We were all very impressed with her work which was beautifully crafted and well considered. The project is called ‘soup loop’ and is about eating soup and spending time together with family and friends. She had made a series of individually designed handmade ceramic bowls, some textile pieces and a design for a digital application. There were also some soup recipe cards that visitors could take away and try at home.
After spending some time with Nes in her space we had a look around at some of the other projects in the Design Practice, Photography and Contemporary Art Practice exhibitions before going outside and enjoying some sunshine in the nearby landscaped grassy area.
We’ll also be heading to the Glasgow School of Art for the fine art degree show soon.
The walking group is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
