Walking Group visit Mackintosh House

Walking Group visit Mackintosh House

In the calm before the storm, on Thursday our walking group had a visit to the Hunterian Gallery to see ‘Digging in Another Time: Derek Jarman’s Modern Nature’.

The exhibition includes a variety of works by Jarman himself, with some documentary video footage and commissioned responses from contemporary artists.

After a look around the gallery we were treated to a visit to the Mackintosh House. Most of us hadn’t been there before and what a treat it is. We agreed that while it’s all beautifully and cleverly designed, it wouldn’t be a very comfortable or relaxing place to live.

Most of us arrived by public transport but one of our group arrived by car and although we had booked a parking space it proved to be difficult to find. Also some of the guidance on the University website is incorrect and out of date. We have requested they update this and make it easier to understand.
