As some of our Project Ability artists were exhibiting artworks in Gourock, it was a good time to take a trip by train along the coast and visit Original Artists shop and gallery. It’s a lovely shop packed full of interesting crafted pieces with a gallery space for temporary exhibitions at the back.
Paintings and ceramics by David Bradley, Sian Mather, Simon Mcauley, Margaret McInnes, John McNaught, Cameron Morgan, Allan Oattes and Lynne Woods were on show in the space which was a bit tricky for our wheelchair user Ruth, who needed a bit of help to get into the gallery as there were a couple of steps leading up to it.
After a good look around the gallery and shop and a chat with Lisa the owner, we headed back to the station and took the train to Greenock Central where a short walk brought us to the Beacon Arts Centre to see Muddled Syncopation an exhibition of paintings by Fraser Taylor. We arrived just in time to see a beautiful rainbow over the water and enjoyed some refreshments in the café before taking the train back to Glasgow.
