‘Undoing It’ by Ciara Phillips at Goma

Our walking group were invited to visit Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art on Friday 21 March for a private view of the newly installed exhibition ‘Undoing It’ by Ciara Phillips. We were welcomed into the gallery by curator Martin Craig and then Ciara gave us a very engaging introduction to the work and answered some questions. The exhibition, in gallery 3, focusses on the process of printmaking and the artist’s creative journey from influences, through note taking and the planning of the works which include monoprints, woodcuts, screen prints and etchings.
Many of the pieces were created in Glasgow Print Studios but some of the larger pieces were made on printing presses in Bergen, Norway where she is currently based. She told us that several prints were also made on the gallery floor during install as a few more monoprints were needed to paper the walls.
It was difficult to see everything as the gallery was so busy, so it will be well worth a return visit. A second group arrived for their turn to see the work and meet the artist so we all went upstairs to the GoMA workshop for some refreshments.

‘Undoing It’ will be open in Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art 22 March – 26 October 2025
