Original Artists in Gourock

We’re excited to announce that we have a new exhibition of work on display in Gourock. The Original Artists shop is a beautiful gift shop just a few minutes walk from the seaside and train station. We are delighted to be showing a selection of painting and ceramics, by eight Project Abiltiy artists.

Gourock is about an hour away on the train, from Central Station in Glasgow. It is a lovely seaside town with lots of shops and cafes to explore. Our exhibition will be on display for the next month.

The Artists,

David Bradley often depicts the Scottish sea side in his paintings. He creates joyful contemporary naïve paintings with a graphic, folk-art influenced style.

Sian Mather is a painter and ceramicist. On exhibit are several of her ceramic tiles, often reinterpreting artworks by her favourite post-impressionist and expressionist artists such as Van Gogh and Munch. Mather’s attention to detail can be appreciated in the complex scenes she recreates in clay, painted with glaze.

Simon Mcauley is a painter and also a keen photographer. On exhibtion we have six new watercolours by Mcauley and four oil paintings. His abstract investigations with paint play with light, composition and texture, creating a richness of harmony and colour.

Margaret McInnes has featured a gorgeous folk-art inspired painting with a bird motif. The composition is reminiscent of Nordic/Scandanavian folk art with the flat-painted and stylised birds, creating a striking image on a large canvas.

John McNaught paints in oil and often studies and replicates work by artists he admires, before then creating his own unique style. His new bird paintings have a clean, graphic geometric feel while still keeping the beauty and softness of these wonderful creatures.

Cameron Morgan is a multi-disciplinary artist with a love for ceramics. Bringing humour into each of his artworks, Morgan’s style is bold and boisterous, as exampled perfectly in his Wally Dugs, slipcast ceramics.

Allan Oattes creates complex, realistic and emotive oil paintings. On show here is a spring inspired artwork, featuring an exquisitely painted new lamb and daffodils.

Lynne Woods has found inspiration from the sea in the work on display. Her seascapes are tranquil and relaxing, while also giving a sense of drama and energy to the composition.
