NILS MCDIARMID (b. 1980 in Edinburgh, Scotland) lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. McDiarmid has a distinctive style and is a prolific artist,

working endlessly at home and in the studio. He has drawn compulsively since childhood. His ability to create space and form through line is fascinating

and leads to his instantly recognisable work.  McDiarmid has attended the support studio Garvald in Edinburgh since 2006, He works in the art studio

one day a week and the Puppetry studio one day a week. Most recently, McDiarmid’s illustrative work depicts rappers and musicians of the hip hop and

LESLIE THOMPSON (b. 1970 in Manchester, England) lives and works in Manchester, England Thompson has been an artist at Venture Arts support

studios in Manchester for over twenty years. Through this time he has been able to extend his innate illustrative gift into stitch, animation and printmaking.

He often depicts scenes from television and film from 1970 -1990. His drawings are punctuated with fascinating anecdotes from film, music and TV.

Thompson found success when he sold all of his vitrine series on the opening day at the OutsiderXchanges project booth at The Manchester

Contemporary in 2016. He has documented several events and conferences through live drawing; something he enjoys very much.  Solo exhibitions

ROBIN WISE (b. 1962 -2021 Stirling, Scotland) lived and worked in Aberdeen, Scotland Wise said one of his favourite things to capture in his black and white

artwork is everyday life at Newton Dee in Bieldside, where he lived since 1991. The village of Newton Dee provides a place for adults with additional support

needs, like Wise, to live and work together with volunteers in a mutually supportive environment. Since he was a young boy Wise has always expressed himself

through drawing. These drawings are a beautiful depiction of his life and his environment, through his unique perspective. “I like to draw pictures of things in

Aberdeen, like hills, landscapes and trees. Drawing makes me feel relaxed and happy..”  Solo exhibition: Robin Wise, Story Café, Aberdeen, Scotland (2019)

Wise very sadly passed away shortly before this exhibition. He leaves behind a beautiful body of work, full of magic and charm; to inspire, delight and bring a

sense of peace to the viewer.

The gallery will be open Monday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm, from 11 July – 27 June with reduced hours TBD from the w/b 28 June.

We can’t wait to exhibit work in the flesh again! The gallery will, however, have a reduced capacity with 10 visitors at a time, and we do require people to:

• • Wear a face mask (if possible)
  • Keep two meters distance from other parties
  • Move round the gallery in a clockwise direction, following the floor marking
