This week we look at a powerful but tiny artwork made by Reconnect artist Bel Pye. There is no denying the significance of this small accessory that has now become such an essential part of our lives. Delicately embroidered is a message with a pertinent reminder that change is necessary, even more now in our post pandemic world.
What this artwork has to say is both urgent and important. Art is at its most powerful when it asks questions, investigates ideas and instigates discussions. This short and concise message in red is one we hope the world will hear as we look to the future and begin to return to ‘normal’. Art can highlight these issues and it is up to us all to work to make changes. We can all make a difference….
Bel Pye has kindly signed up to help us fundraise in this years @thekiltwalk! Check out their first week’s worth of a 31 day ‘draw-a-thon’ here. And follow this link to check in on their progress ( smashing it!) and donate if you feel inspired to! Bel is a wonderful example of the kind of generosity we see within so many of the artists Project Ability works with. It is a continual source of inspiration and optimism. Thank you Bel!!
