The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival launched this week and Project Ability’s latest exhibition, The Nature of Ideas, is proud to be a part of it! These two paintings by David Bradley are inspired by nature walks many of us have rediscovered throughout the pandemic. They are a small reminder of some of the simple pleasures we were able to find in among the chaos and upheaval of the last year.
Along with his very Scottish portraits, Bradley’s land, sea and city-scapes have been a gallery favourite for several years now. With his very Scottish subject matter, his highly recognisable painting style is a favourite in the gallery shop too. He has a way of depicting the figure in a way that is remarkably full of character and life. We love the slight twist on his usual compositions that these two paintings have. They are a departure from his normal comfort zone, which is something perhaps the last year has brought out of all of us! They definitely focus on the joy of a walk some place where the air smells fresh and the birds can probably be heard singing away. Even the sheep look relaxed and calm.
These nature themed artworks are just two of many wonderful new pieces that can be seen in our latest exhibition.
