Walking Group visit Dinnseanchas

Chilly and dry autumn days are good for walks and last week our walking group set off to see some more exhibitions in three nearby galleries.

The first stop was at Wasps in The Briggait to see Dinnseanchas, an exhibition of photographic works by Christina McBride. The works are set in the two small gallery spaces that can be seen from the street and are large and small scale black and white photographs and a composite of small colourful cyanotypes. Christina uses alternative printing processes that are sustainable and more environmentally friendly than traditional materials and chemistry.

From here we crossed the river to visit Patricia Fleming gallery where there was an exhibition of works by three women artists: Christine Borland, Muchele Fletcher and Wendy McMurdo, called If Not Now, When? We enjoyed the mix of paintings, video and photographic pieces, and were particularly interested in the colourful paintings by Michele Fletcher.

Finally we walked back across the Clyde and finished up with a quick look at the exhibition Pubs by Rory Kennedy in the Wasps South Block gallery. It’s a show of paintings and prints made in a very graphic style and infused with humour.

Dinnseanchas can be seen until 8 January, If Not Now, When? until 20 December and Pubs until 24 November.
