Our walking group had perfect weather for this outing, with blue sky and sunshine all the way. Our route was the path along the River Clyde, starting at the Gorbals Street Bridge and ending at the Kingston Bridge. The area is teeming with graffiti art which we stopped to admire along the way. It was lovely to see so many people out and about enjoying the sunshine.
One of our purposes for this walk was to see ‘Superstructure’, the recently installed sculptures by Turner Prize-winner Jasleen Kaur. These pieces are topped with short phrases that relate to the surrounding area and like weathervanes they turn in the breeze. Our other purpose was to see the pillars beneath the Kingston Bridge which have been painted by a team of international artists selected from an open call, and commissioned by SWG3 Yardworks. They are very varied in style and really brighten up the area.
‘Superstructure’, which was commissioned specially for the Glasgow 2026 Festival, can be seen until 10th August.
