There’s always lots going on in the Trongate 103 building and our walking group like to visit the exhibitions that take place in our neighbouring galleries when possible. Last week we went to Street Level to catch the two exhibitions that had only a few days left to run; ‘Beneath the Ivory is Molten Brown’ by Aqsa Arifand and ‘The Backbone’ by Ayesha Jones. We also went to see ‘Branching’, the current group show in the main gallery at Glasgow Print Studios. This exhibition is a collaboration between three artists from GPS and three from Graphic Studio Dublin. Our group enjoyed this show immensely and were very interested in the different techniques each artist used to make their artworks. Finally we had a visit to Project Ability gallery to see ‘Going for Gold’, the annual ‘Young Talent’ showcase of work made in the Create and Art Matters workshops. This year the exhibition features a number of works by Gabriel McBryan, a young man who had been attending Saturday morning classes for more than a decade and who sadly passed away earlier this year.
