Artwork of the Week: Australian Wildfires

For our winter exhibition, we asked artists to submit work responding to the climate emergency.

Tommy Kemp‘s Australian Wildfires is a provocative piece that shows the urgency of our situation. The time is now. This is happening.

In the foreground the blackened figures of trees, a kangaroo and a person suggest the scope of the fires impact. Burning amber, yellow and red mix with an ashy grey, as human and animal habitats are engulfed. There is a sense that the scene is melting.

Visit The Time is Now to see a diverse range of responses to the climate emergency from over 50 disabled artists.

Open: 11am – 5pm Wednesday – Saturday, until 23 December.
