Leslie Thompson’s scroll is our artwork of the week – and part of our Glasgow International exhibition “It’s in the Detail”.
The drawings on the scroll were made by Leslie in front of a live audience at The Manchester Contemporary 2019. Leslie likes to work in front of an audience, and had planned to do this in our gallery during Glasgow International (a plan sadly halted by the pandemic).
The scroll is long, hanging from our gallery wall and trailing onto the floor.

Leslie’s affinity with animals is reflected in the scroll drawings. There’s a toucan, a beaver, a giant panda and an Indian rhino (to name a few).

Leslie’s scroll is full of treats, rewarding those who move in for a closer look. Get a closer look by visiting our gallery, where we will be showing “It’s in the Detail” until July 24.
