Artwork of the Week – by Aileen Paterson

painting of a tree with a yellow sky behind it by Aileen Paterson

Our Artwork of the Week takes one last look at our second instalment of our Lockdown exhibitions, ‘As Time Stood Still‘, Part One and Part Two.

These lovely landscapes are part of the exhibition, which ends next week. It has been so uplifting to see all of the artworks that were made during the different Lockdowns of 2020. It was a year none of us will forget, although many of us would like to.

You can view all three of Aileen Paterson’s paintings in this gallery…

These three paintings were created by Reconnect artist Aileen Paterson, in her home, during Lockdown. They are a reflection of nature and our environment, with thoughtful meditative quotes quietly embedded in the texture of the paint  and canvas.

listen to the song of the stars…

In this deep silence, remember who we are…

hear the owls calling, our forgotten stories…

The two Lockdown exhibitions we had are testament to the wonder that is creativity and art. We are certain it has helped us through the last year, warming our hearts and our souls. If one is driven to create, then one can harness that at the most difficult of times and use it to help get past obstacles and get through the very sad and difficult times.

And as it is therapeutic to create art, it is also therapy seeing it! We want to thank each and every single artist who has created something special and shared it with us in this exhibition. It has been a breath of fresh air to know all of you are working away despite having no access to your normal studio.

With the end of this exhibition, we hope too it is the end of Lockdowns. I think that is something everyone will agree with!
