Artwork of the Week celebrates our new exhibition, Andrew Boyle and Michael Draper, which opens Wednesday the 12th of April. This landscape of trees is by Michael Draper, and is a gorgeous example of his painting style. Using watercolours, and working from photographs he has taken himself, Michael composes his artworks with strong bold forms, softened by his use of a subtle and muted colour palette. The result is simultaneously striking and gentle on the eyes.
‘Rouken Glen’ is a park in Glasgow and we can see it was a very sunny day when Michael took the photograph he used to make this picture. The row of trees stand tall and straight with their shadows lined up as symmetrically as the tree themselves.
Come by to see the exhibition at the Project Ability gallery. It is on until 13 May.
