Silk Painting

Thoughts from the studio – Entry III, by Morag MacGilchrist

The core block of summer workshops at Project Ability has now come to an end so the artists are tying up any loose ends with their work and finalising their kites which they have been working on for the last few months. (More to come on the kite project soon!)

“This week having all but finished working on the kites I made and decorated, I needed a new challenge. Tutor Celine suggested joining others who had made silk paintings to turn into kites. So I drew and painted a raccoon, deciding to give him a rainbow tie dye look. The background has not been done yet, so it’s still a work in progress. I’ve not decided if I will turn this painting into another kite or just leave it as a silk, time will probably be a factor as next Wednesday is the last week we have for making the kites.”
