Walking Group: GOMA and Cass Art

Project Ability Walking Group Visit GOMA and Cass Art

On February the 14th the Walking Group visited GOMA and Cass Art. Project Ability artist Stuart Low has been a part of a project painting a long mural entitled ‘Dancing Wave’. Organised by Healy Arts Charity this stretches nearly 1000 meters along the Clydeside in the west of Glasgow. Stuart has painted a small submarine and has a QR code next to it leading to a poem. Other artists involved are Siobhan Healy, Garald Mangan, Vikki Litton, Frank McNab, Chris Watson, Amy Bruning and Mike Rolek. Photos of the mural are in the COMMONSpace section at GOMA, curated to make a tiny version of the full mural in a corner with large windows. It’s a great way to get a look if you’re not able to walk 1000 meters. They have a book with stories from the artists involved and further photos of the mural as a work in progress. ‘Dancing Wave’ is in GOMA until April 21st. We hope to visit the full mural over the summer in the dryer weather.

We then nipped into Cass Art to see an exhibit by GSA of the Year 4 Textile Design students’ work. ‘Work In Progress’ is just that, each student has presented a small selection of what they have been working on in their final year along with inspiration items and photographs. Jewellery, birds, architecture and plants are recurring themes and each student’s work is very unique. This exhibit was only on for a few days in early February, so the next time to see these wonderful textile artists will be their final graduate collections.
