Léa and Megan met for the first time during a residency at Project Ability in August this 2019. While differing in their approach to making, they found a shared interest in the specific environment of Project Ability; a Glasgow-based visual arts organisation that creates opportunities for people with disabilities and people with lived experience of mental ill-health.
Léa explored the relationship between the maker and the making through a series of photographs and recorded interviews with various artists who attend the Project Ability workshops, documenting their process and thoughts in relation to their own practice and wider experience of Project Ability.
Megan considered non-verbal modes of communication such as signing, mark-making and gesture through a collaborative sculptural work which involved over 20 other artists at Project Ability.
This exhibition will show the outcome of this residency alongside the work of some of the artists we had the pleasure of working with at Project Ability.
