Violet

Violet Ruth Mutch My Room

Project Ability is pleased to announce Violet, a group exhibition bringing together work by artists from across all three of our studio programmes; Aspire, ReConnect and Create. Taking violet as its central theme, the exhibition celebrates the richness, variety and individuality of contemporary art being created on a weekly basis in the Project Ability studios.

Violet is a colour that carries many meanings – associated with creativity, mystery, spirituality, tenderness and intensity. For this exhibition, artists were invited to interpret the theme freely, responding to violet as a colour, a mood, a symbol or a starting point for experimentation. The result is a vibrant and diverse body of work that reflects the breadth of practices, voices and perspectives within Project Ability’s studio community.

The exhibition features work in a range of media, including drawing, painting, print, textile, sculpture and mixed media. Some artists have engaged directly with violet as a dominant visual element, while others explore more subtle or conceptual responses.

By inviting submissions from across all studio programmes, Violet also highlights the strength of Project Ability’s creative community and the importance of collective making. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition and experience the many ways violet can be seen, felt and imagined.
