It was a dreich, dull day for our walking group’s final outing of the year, and shortly after stepping out the heavens opened and released a downpour of wetness. It wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits though as we set off up the High Street to visit the crypt in Glasgow Cathedral, to see the recently excavated and transformed ancient well. The shining mosaic that now lines the well is made of more than 1000 illuminated glass tiles and was created by artist Joanna Kessel and Aproxima Creative Collective. The Cathedral was decorated with Christmas trees and there was a choir singing carols nearby which added a very seasonal atmosphere to the visit.
