Lockdown Postcards by Edward Henry

This week we look at some remarkable postcards made during Lockdown by the very talented Mr. Edward Henry. Henry is a great animal lover and he is fascinated by nature and the exotic. We learn about many new bird and reptile species by seeing Henry’s latest creations! Here we have the beautiful Hoopoe bird. Hoopoes are colourful birds found across Africa, Asia, and Europe, notable for their distinctive “crown” of feathers. We love the brilliant orange Henry has chosen for the plumage.

The colourful spotted frog is a Poison Dart (or Arrow) frog which is the common name of a group of frogs in the family Dendrobatidae and are native to tropical Central and South America.

And lastly we have the all too familiar seagull, which needs no introduction.

Edward Henry normally works on an easel with paints, but Lockdown has seen him working with some new materials. The quality art pens used in these postcards have given them a clean, graphic and vibrant look. Well done Edward, we love your animal drawings!!
