Artwork of the Week by Andrew Boyle

Our Artwork of the Week this week celebrates the final few days of our online exhibition ‘As Time Stood Still’. Andrew Boyle has been creating some amazing paintings at home during lockdown. His love of Star Wars has inspired these two landscapes, the city on the cliffs is THEED capital City of planet NABOO (for all the Star wars aficionados!)

And this painting below is of the Berber dwellings, in Ksar Oued Soltane in South Eastern Tunisia, also a familiar landmark to all Star Wars fans! We love Andrew’s use of the watercolour paints and the flowing quality these two landscapes have. His thoughtful use of tone and colour give these two artworks a warm golden glow. Whether you know where they are or what they represent, these two scenes are a joy to view. I think right about now we are all dreaming of far away distant lands!

Whilst the Project Ability studios have been forced to remain closed, Andrew has been working with Project Ability tutor and fellow artist, Meredith Crone. They catch up weekly to share ideas and Andrew is able to get some of the support he would get in the studio, but now it’s on video calls. We just love his water colour paintings and can’t wait to see more!

Tune in this Friday for the online launch of the next instalment of this exhibition, ‘As Time Stood Still – Part Two’
