This week we look at an amazing collection of album cover inspired art by John Cocozza. Featured above is the British folk and pop duo from the 70’s, Peters and Lee!
There are several paintings by John Cocozza that have taken their inspiration from album covers. Check out this gallery of beautiful faces…
John Cocozza’s portraits all have a uniquely classical style which he has perfected over the years. Heavy black outlines contrast against the even skintone and piercing eyes that mesmerise and lock us into their gaze. Striking and instantly recognisable, you might have seen John Cocozza’s artworks at one of our previous social events. He has generously donated his time and taken part in several live portrait drawing sessions with us. Click here to see the live portrait session John was involved with at the GSA. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to do this but we hope to get back to it one day. Has anyone out there still got their Project Ability portrait? We’d love to see it!
These paintings have all been made at home during Lockdown, and are part of our Lockdown exhibition, ‘As Time Stood Still, Part Two’. John Cocozza is a long standing and important member of the community at Project Ability. Like so many of the artists, we really miss his creativity and spirit. It’s so good to see he has been keeping in touch with Project Ability tutors and continuing to make amazing work.
