Our Artwork of the Week is this bold and colourful painting of a pigeon in the city by Jonathan McKinstry. ‘Pigeon in the City’ is currently on show at Mono, along with a selection of other animals in the city! Jonathan McKinstry has a bold and expressive painting style. He works quickly and confidently from sketches, onto large canvases, often working with oil paint. His signature black outlines reference his love of comic books, which he has been collecting since he was a young boy.
McKinstry’s paintings match his personality; fun, brilliant and full of excitement. He brings this friendly attitude with him to the Project Ability studios and is an assett in our workshop, inspiring and encouraging other artists, while continuing to develop his own practice.
