New Year, new opportunities to volunteer at Project Ability starting in January 2019! We are welcoming applications from artists across all disciplines to offer volunteer support to our different programmes of workshops.

Volunteer in our Aspire workshops

Support our ‘Aspire’ participants in the making of their artwork. Our Aspire programme is for adults with learning disabilities. Volunteers should be able to commit to at least 2 hours a week, each week, for 8 weeks (with the possibility of an 8 week extension). Workshops take place 10am – 12noon and 1pm– 3pm, Monday to Thursday and 10 – 3pm on Friday. Classes recommence Monday 21st January.

Volunteer in our Create workshops

Volunteer with our ‘Create’ workshops for children with disabilities, taking place on Saturdays. There are opportunities from 10 am to 12:30pm to volunteer with our youngest artists aged 5 – 12 years and from 1pm to 4pm to support young people aged 12 – 21 years. We also have a further opportunity to volunteer with Art Matters; a designated studio time for young adults, from 4pm – 6pm. Successful applicants should be able to commit to 8 sessions, with the opportunity to extend their experience for another 8 sessions. Classes start Saturday 26th January.

Volunteer in our ReConnect workshops

“ReConnect” is a programme which supports artists with lived experience of mental ill health. ReConnect offers a safe and supported studio environment for people to develop their individual art practices. We would like to recruit visual artists who enjoy engaging with others, talking about art and contributing to the development of other’s artistic practice. Our ReConnect programme runs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 10am – 1pm. Classes start back Tuesday 8th January (volunteers will start mid-January).

Meet the Volunteers: Jade Sturrock

A volunteering experience at Project Ability will introduce you to our unique artists community, allowing you to experience new ways of making art and potentially open up your own practice.

‘I started out with a very open mind about what the volunteer experience might mean and bring, I expected to really enjoy the process and I have! I look forward to Saturday mornings and it will be a shame to leave the group at the end of the workshop block.’Corah Ambrose (Create Volunteer)

If you have any questions about any of our opportunities, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Tracy Gorman, our Volunteers Co-ordinator at volunteers@project-ability.co.uk. Please note, only applications using our attached application form will be considered.

The deadline for all applications is Sunday 6th January 2019. Good Luck!
