Walking Group: GOMA and Cass Art

On Wednesday the 29th November, the walking group visited both the GOMA and Cass Art’s The Art Space to see two exhibitions.

At GOMA we saw ‘Wednesday is Cobalt blue, Friday is Cadmium red’ by Sam Ainsley. This is currently in Gallery 3 until March 10th 2024. As expected a lot of the work is red and blue. There are maps of Scottish islands on one wall on cut-out and hemmed canvas, another features a huge mural of a heart. It is a bright, vibrant exhibit with a feminist approach.
We then visited The Art Space, a gallery at the back of art store Cass Art, accessible via a lift as well as steps, this small space is somewhere many may have never visited before. ‘Connect & Grow’ is the current exhibit showcasing work by the participants of The Society Of Scottish Artists mentoring program.  There is a wide variety of work on show here, sketches, prints, ceramics and paintings. This was the last day of the exhibition and I am glad we managed to get to see it.
