Walking Group visit Futureproof 2024 and Limited Editions
On Wednesday 30th of October, the Walking Group visited Street Level and Glasgow Print Studios.
We began with a tour of ‘Futureproof 2024‘ Street Level’s annual show of new photography and fine arts graduates. Now in it’s 16th year, there are 23 artists exhibiting this year. Many of them were inspired by places in the country that had been blighted by closed industry. Large photos of homes left to decay and be set on fire by vandals sit across from riverbeds contaminated by the sudden closure of colluries. A photo collage on tiles of a closed tileworks was one of the most interesting pieces.
We then had a short visit to the Print Studio’s archive where they had looked out some prints of a spooky nature since it was almost Halloween. Then it was a tour of their current exhibition Limited Editions, a show featuring last prints from popular runs of some of their best known artists, including John Byrne and Elizabeth Blackadder.
Futureproof 2024 runs until November 3rd and Limited Editions until November 27th.
