With Glasgow International in full swing there is a huge amount of artistic activity in the city. For this outing our group decided to visit some of the more local shows and started off with ‘Moral Injury’, a group exhibition in the historic Panopticon Musical Theatre which is a very short distance from our studios. The Panopticon entrance is on an alleyway and then up two flights of stairs and there is a stair-climber available for anyone who needs it.
Moral injury is the distress that occurs when someone feels they have violated their own core moral beliefs, or been forced into situations where they couldn’t act according to what they believe is right. The list of artists who made work in response to this theme includes two current Project Ability volunteers: Bethan and Aiofe.
From here we walked over to The Briggait and into the large recently opened space in the east of the building. The exhibition here is ‘Tropical Hardware’ by Tanoa Sasraku and is a series of sculptures arranged sparsely across the huge space.
We finished up in South Block to see ‘A Seat At The Table’, a group exhibition that considers chairs as both sculptural and functional objects. Visitors are invited to sit on some, but not all, of these.
You can find more information about all of these exhibitions on the following websites…
