Our Artwork of the Week, by Andrew Boyle, is one of the many landscapes in our current exhibition, ‘Andrew Boyle & Michael Draper’.
‘Lord of the Rings Landscape’ is a fantastical painting taken from this much loved story. Andrew Boyle often references Lord of the Rings and other fantasy tales, creating detailed images of the landscapes, architecture and creatures. This landscape has been beautifully painted and at first glance could easily be mistaken for a picturesque view of castle ruins in Scotland. The soft colours making up the sea, sky and land work together to create a serene image that leads our eyes around the composition, taking in the beautiful view.
Tomorrow evening we are having a reception in the gallery for this exhibtion, which features paintings on paper by both Draper and Boyle. It will also be the launch of the publication made for the exhibition. All are welcome, 6-8pm, in the Project Ability gallery.
