Lockdown Postcards by Tracy Marshall Gorman

With our Lockdown Postcard project well underway, we thought it was time to see what the tutors have been up to. These two postcards by Tracy Marshall Gorman are exquisitely executed and really poignant to our current times.

Project Ability prides itself on the wealth of knowledge, expertise and skill that our staff and tutors bring into the studios. Tracy Marshall Gorman has been a tutor at Project Ability for over 20 years, and is an integral part of the creative activities that go on in the studios and workshops.

In addition to working as a Create workshop tutor, Tracy manages our extensive and ever growing Volunteer programme as well as having her own artistic practice. She’s worked collaboratively with Project Ability artist Cameron Morgan on a few different projects with some fantastic results, as can be seen in their Residency documentation. As a ceramics graduate and aficionado, Tracy is a crucial member to our ceramics team and her skill, expertise and friendly demeanour means she is a fountain of knowledge for the artists working with clay in the studios. We are really proud of the artists who have come to learn and perfect their own ceramics practice at Project Ability, and this is certainly in no small part down to the generosity of our ‘ceramics team’ to share and help with the more difficult processes.

Whilst the Project Ability routine has been temporarily jolted out of step due to the pandemic, Tracy is one of our tutors who has been leading workshops online for some of our young artists. These are going really well and it’s been wonderful to be able to reconnect with some of the little faces (and parents!) that would normally be coming to the studios on Saturdays for our Create workshops! We also have some art-at-home tutorials that Tracy has made during Lockdown on our YouTube channel, a must see if you are looking for fun craft projects to do at home.

You can see more of Tracy’s own work here on her website and Instagram.
